First, you need to know that everybody has H-Pylori in their digestive system. However, its activity is restrained by good bacteria (gut flora) and stomach acidity. The first step to giving H-Pylori the power to take control over your digestive system is a bad diet. The usual Standard American Diet (SAD) creates the best environment for the dominance of H-Pylori. The SAD is a diet rich in processed food, high in carbs, simple sugars and hydrogenated fats (a typical fast food combo, burger, fries and coke is a perfect example). with so many chemicals in processed food, this diet is not only poor in gut flora responsible for keeping H-Pylori in check, but it also destroys the cultures you already have in your system, leaving your digestive tract totally exposed to the fast growth of H-Pylori. SAD also decreases the acidity of the stomach responsible for killing any pathogens like H-Pylori and other dangerous bacteria preventing them from reaching the intestines or the blood stream.
Combine low stomach acidity and gut bacteria imbalance, your system has the perfect environment for H-Pylori to strive.
Once in power H-Pylori will eat its way through the stomach lining, heading to the perfect spot to settle making holes in the lining (ulcers). It is important to note that in the early stages of H-Pylori and as a result of stomach acidity leaking into the holes made by the bacteria, you will experience a heart burn sensation. Most of the people will take antacid to "neutralize" the acidity, which will decrease the acidity even more and even improve the environment for H-Pylori to grow.
Once you are diagnosed, a high dose of antibiotic is prescribed. The antibiotic will sure kill most of the H-Pylori but will also kill any living organism in your guts whether it is good or bad. Once you are done, your digestive system is totally exposed to pathogens. Gut flora will need time and care to grow back, in the event you go back to your old diet, no gut flora will grow and you will have no defense in the face of other pathogens leaving the space for H-Pylori to strive again.
And then you start all over again and again.
In order to avoid this vicious circle, you will need to take serious measures to change your diet to a healthy diet based on whole foods rich in nutrients and low or no carbs. Eat a lot of fermented foods and supplement probiotics.
It is recommended that you consult your nutritionist for high doses of probiotics and post antibiotic nutrition.
