Ovaries, adrenals and thyroid are an unbreakable triad. In a perfect world, they will work together in harmony to ensure reproduction, regulation of stress and metabolism.
If one of the three falls off the wagon, the other 2 will gradually lose their balance, and their performance will decrease which by its turn will aggravate the condition of the first gland that got sick.
So for example, in the case of PCOS, the ovaries health condition will put the adrenals and the thyroid under stress which by time can cause adrenal fatigue and hypothyroidism. Adrenal fatigue and hypothyroidism will in turn affect the health of the ovaries and so on.
But who is to say what happened first? It could be that when the adrenals got burned out from stress, it affected the ovaries and at some point will affect the thyroid.
As in sickness the team works together also in health. If one of those three is getting attention and support the other two will also benefit.
Specifically for PCOS, I find that supporting the adrenals and totally cutting off sugars will have great results on the overall PCOS symptoms and general wellbeing.
For ovaries support, I recommend supplementing herbs like red raspberry leafs, cramp bark, bitters tinctures, chaste tree and A LOT of fibres.
For adrenals support, adaptogens like maca roots and holy basil as well as supplementing vitamin C and Magnesium (food for the adrenals) will make you feel a huge difference in energy level.
For thyroid, supplements like zinc, selenium, kelp, and vitamin B-Complex are crucial for healthy thyroid.
One herb that I find just magical is Ashwagandha. This amazing herb works on the adrenals, ovaries and thyroid at the same time. Just a gift from nature!!!!
If you have PCOS, I certainly recommend supplementing Ashwagandha, it is a wonderful adaptogen for you.
The suggestions above are a good start, but if you are aiming at healing your PCOS I advise you to follow up regularly with your holistic nutritionist for complete support protocols.
